Four wins for the climate in four weeks.
It’s January 28th - meaning that we’re exactly four weeks into the new year. And wow what an amazing four weeks we’ve had! We’ve started this year with a bang; we’re already celebrating huge wins in each one of our four mission areas.*
Here’s a rundown of what we’ve achieved together this year already:
-Getting Around-
1. Izzy published our plan to cut traffic, and hundreds of MPs have got a copy.
In week one of 2026, hundreds of you emailed your MPs with a copy of our strategy for fixing the UK’s traffic problem. Off the back of this action, Izzy has heard directly from MPs across the country who are keen to put the plan into action - that means prioritising public transport, active travel and electric vehicles for those who need them. Thank you to everyone who took part (if you haven’t yet sent our briefing to your MP, you can do so at this link).
-Getting away-
2. Ali met politicians in Parliament to talk about practical solutions for reducing air travel.
Ali and the aviation team hosted an event in Westminster last Wednesday to get the UK’s decision makers talking about the climate impact of air travel and what this government can do about it. The event was a triumph, with dozens of influential people in the room including politicians from across the political spectrum (a huge thank you to everyone who asked their MP to attend!).
-What we eat and buy-
3. More Fixing Factories are on their way!
Our high-street repair hubs are proving successful! With the help of excellent volunteers and all of you who have supported the project by attending repair workshops or buying gift vouchers, Sarah and the Fixing Factory team are excited to announce that we’re growing - again! We launched the fifth Fixing Factory site last year, and can now confirm that, with our partners The Restart Project, we’ll be opening two new Fixing Factories in 2026 - watch this space!
-Where we live-
4. We’re celebrating the biggest homes upgrade in British history.
Last week the government announced the new Warm Homes Plan. This hasn’t come out of nowhere. Together, we’ve been calling for action on energy efficiency improvements and clean energy installation for years - the message finally seems to be getting through. We’ve put together a summary on our website so you can see what this means for your heating, your bills, and the planet - but in short, it’s great news!
*At Possible, everything we do is about getting more people involved in the transition to a zero carbon UK. We focus on four mission areas where public engagement and behaviour change is critical to decarbonisation (getting away, getting around, what we eat and buy, and where we live). Within each of the areas, we take climate solutions from ideas, put them into practice, show they work, and make them into scalable projects. Find out more at wearepossible.org/our-work.
