We won on wind - but the government is trying to stop solar

When enough people stand up for climate solutions, even reluctant governments have to listen. Together, we got the government to agree to end the ban on onshore wind.

Now we need to stand up for solar - one of the cheapest forms of clean energy.

The future of solar is under threat. Ministers are planning to try to ban solar from most farmland in England, and it’s all because of pressure from a small group of Conservative MPs who are completely out of touch with public opinion.

This would be a ridiculous step backwards. Solar panels currently cover just  0.1% of land in the UK. Even if we put all the solar we need on farms, it would still cover just 0.5% of arable land - a completely negligible amount when it comes to food production.

The UK is facing a frightening winter of high energy costs and potential blackouts. Solar is the most popular form of energy, with nine in ten of us in favour. It’s obvious to most of us that we need more cheap, clean energy like solar power - and we need it fast.

Can you stand up for solar now?

We can’t let the government block solar power. If enough of us tell our MPs we want solar, the government will have to listen.

Let's stand up for clean energy today
