9 year old Lara is planting trees all over her hometown.

Be like Lara.

The campaign

Planting more trees is essential for shrinking Britain’s climate impact. And it’s not happening fast enough. Tree-planting in England fell 71% short of official government targets last year - putting us drastically off course for the 1.5 billion new trees the Committee on Climate Change says are needed by 2050.

Lara knew it was time she stepped in - and created Tree Town. When schools shut for the coronavirus lockdown, Lara and her dad got to work. They scoped out planting locations in her hometown, sought permission from landowners, and found an organisation (that’s us) who’ll make sure that when planting season comes round, they have all the hands they need to get the trees in the ground.

We’re helping Lara plant trees in Bridgenorth and beyond. Here’s how you can help:

Ways to get involved

Plant trees with Lara in Shropshire

We are helping Lara organise a community planting day to turn her tree town vision into a reality. The event will be on Saturday 12th March 2022, 10am - 4pm (you can join at any time) at Crown Meadow in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

Follow Lara’s lead - make your neighbourhood a Tree Town

We worked with Lara to create a step-by-step guide to getting more trees planted in your own neighbourhood. Once you’ve downloaded the guide, introduce yourself by emailing Hannah at hannah@wearepossible.org. That way if there are other Tree-Town enthusiasts in your area, we can link you up and help you with anything you need.

Some of you have already followed Lara’s lead and have started planning to plant trees in your own neighbourhoods!

Thanks so much to the team at Possible for providing this fantastic resource. I’m always looking for ways to tackle climate change, and having worked on reducing my carbon footprint, I’ve concluded that planting trees is the best way to step up my game! That being said, I would never have thought of starting a tree-planting project in this way had it not been for the Tree Town Guide- so once again thank you!

Become a changemaker

Regular donations, no matter how small, enable the Possible team to be flexible. Having funds in the bank that are not tied to specific project grants is essential if we want to be ready to help when people like Lara come knocking. Are you in a position to become a regular giver?
